Hollywood has several landmarks which include nearly ten theatres. Each one is a piece of remarkable architecture and has a blanket of history enveloping it. Earl Carroll Theatre, El Captain Theatre, Gibson Amphitheatre, Grauman’s Egyptian Theatre, Pantanges Theatre and Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theatre are visited by tourists but Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, Kodak Theatre, ArcLight Theatre and Pacific Grove Theatre are the undisputed kings of theatres of the Hollywood. In this article, we introduce you to the four best theatres of Hollywood.
1 Kodak Theatre – Located on Hollywood Boulevard, the Kodak theatre is a live performance theatre that has played host to a number of live events including the 75th Academy Awards in 2003. It opened its doors to (reserved) public in November, 2001. Its designer David Rockwell designed it as a potential venue for the Oscars. Today, the Kodak Theatre is used for television events, award ceremonies and occasionally for weddings.
2 Grauman’s Chinese Theatre – Several big hits have premiered at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre on the Hollywood Boulevard. You can buy a ticket and sit in a seat which may have been sat in by the likes of Tom Cruise. Grauman’s Chinese Theatre has a court in the front where several stars have their signatures, handprints and footprints embedded in cement. The A league stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame have their stars right outside the Hollywood Theatre.
3 Pacifics’s The Grove Stadium – Located on the Grove Drive, this theatre is a must visit if you are particularly thirsty for star sightings. Hollywood glitterati are known to frequent the area around the theatre and the theatre itself. You can also head to the nearby outdoor shopping mall and may even end up prizing a shopping item from the hands of a celebrity.
4 ArcLight Hollywood – It is easy enough to succumb to the lures of the ArcLight. The theatre, or more aptly the multiplex has 14 screens. Another dome type theatre is located just next door. Sure ArcLight charges $14 per adult for a movie but the luxury of the theatre is unmatched. It has a reserved seating system, with the choice of choosing one’s own seat. Each movie show is preceded by a short preamble by the ushers who then stay in the theatre for another five minutes to ensure that there are no problems with the sound and picture quality of the movie. ArcLight also has a cafe with a wide selection of alcoholic drinks.
If star sightings are high on your Hollywood vacation agenda, don’t dare miss on these four theatres. While there, keep your eyes open for its Hollywood baby! The only place where stars are all over the roads!
